Suggested improvements are available for review from November 10 - December 11, 2025 online or at Public Open Houses in Springdale and Fayetteville.

The initial round of public engagement was conducted in summer 2025.

The project team is pleased to publicly share the proposed improvements identified through the NWA Rail Study. All of the improvements recommended on this page are suggestions. At this time, cities are not pursing design and construction of the recommended improvements. For further questions about implementation, community members are encouraged to check in with the cities of Springdale and Fayetteville.

Future Funding

Cities may seek federal and state grants, regional partnerships, and private or philanthropic support, with projects phased based on funding and community priorities.

Improvements Likelihood

Short-term signage and marking upgrades and long-term engineering, design, and construction projects dependent on funding are possible.

Next Steps

The project team will finalize recommendations after public feedback, sharing documentation with Springdale and Fayetteville, coordinating with Arkansas & Missouri Railroad for short-term improvements, monitoring funding opportunities, and preparing applications.
